NYE Mani!

I was stumped for this. I spent about 3 hours this morning trimming and filing my nails and then putting acrylics on because my nails weren't in the best condition. So by the time that was all done, I had lost track of time and had to think of something quick.

So this is what I came up with. . .

As with all my manis, I started with a coat of OPI's Ridge filler base coat. Then, one coat of NYC Colours Night (one coat black!!) and topped it off with one coat of China Glaze's Some Like It Haute.

Simple, but sparkly! I love the way SLIH looks over black!

What's your NYE mani?

Christmas Wedding

The nails I did for the lovely brides, Krystal and Mel. This photo was taken after their wedding on Christmas day.

Mel is wearing OPI DS Coronation with a border of alternating sized polka dots in OPI Do You Lilac It?, and Krystal has Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear First Blush, Nubar 2010 (gorgeous layering combo right there!) and OPI DS Coronation for a multi sized polka dot french effect.

They are beautiful girls and I am honoured they asked me to do this

Glitter!

Call me a scrooge, but I just hate Christmas. So after a month of seeing x-mas manis, this is as 'festive' as I will get lol.

I don't do gradients a lot, bit obvious though really! :p

I used China Glaze Senorita Bonita for the base (2 coats) then once it was dry i applied OPI's Fresh frog Of Bel Air and a very thin layer of Kleancolour Holo Green. Bling Bling!

Layering experiment

China Glaze Some Like It Haute and Nuber 2010 on top.
2010 gives SLIH an AWESOME new look. It makes it much more blingy to

China Glaze- Some Like It Haute.

I waited ages for this polish, but honestly after using it, it was worth the wait!

Some Like It Haute is a grey/charcoal glitter with larger holographic glitter packed in. I was expecting this to require a fair few coats, but I was shocked! What you can see is two coats. After one coat I was amazed, I almost didnt use a second coat!

The only real downside with this polish is that is is gritty. Almost sandpaper-y. I havent used a top coat on it yet but i think you may need a few coats!

3D Bows!

my first attempt at making 3d acrylic bows!
these are tricky. gotta get the right consistency and i couldn’t find many tutorials for them online so i went my my own calculations… Pretty happy with the result, these were the first two I made :D
also don’t they look adorable on DS Coronation?

OPI - Fresh Frog Of Bel Air

Oh. My. God. LOVE! Green is my favourite colour, so this was the standout of the Muppets Collection for me, I had to have it!

FFoBA is small emerald green glitter mixed with larger silver hexagonal glitter in a clear base. It is a bit sheer though, this is three coats and there are still bald spots. Will make a great layering polish though! I found it a touch hard to apply too, the silver glitter especially. It dried quickly though, which is a bonus.

Now we all know how hard glitter is to remove and i’m dreading it, so I may wear this for a few days… That and it IS gorgeous!

China Glaze - Senorita Bonita

I adore China Glazes Purples. And this is no different.

Senorita Bonita came out earlier this year as part of the Island Escape collection. It’s a royal purple with pink ‘flecks’ throughout, which I didn’t know about, because I only saw a tiny photo of it and loved that so I bought it. But after getting it in the mail, I was shocked! It is SOOOO much more complex than it looked on the net. It is BEAUTIFUL! It almost looks like a foil from some angles because of the pink flecks in it.

Application was good, it dried pretty quick and I only needed two coats, which I’m happy about, because I’d read other reviews saying they used four coats!
There is a down side though, this polish is SO hard to photograph! No matter what, I could not get the colour to show properly and perfectly and I took about 15 photos!

It really is beautiful though, I can’t wait to do some nail art with this one!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Mocha Mix

Sadly, I must admit that this is actually the first brown polish I own :S but I picked a good one! Would you believe this is ONE COAT?! One! I was shocked!

I love the colour of Mocha Mix, it is actually pretty spot on the same colour as a Mocha! Typical amazing SH formula and application, so no complaints there. And, did I mention it was ONE COAT?! LOVE that!

Mocha Mix is gorgeous, a lovely brown shade with hints of a dusty pink in it. I feel they really named this polish perfectly, and that’s rare if you ask me. I would wear this colour in winter, it’s rich and warm and really makes me think of coffee.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - First Blush

Let me start this off by saying I am NOT a fan of pink. At all. But I’ve been asked to do wedding nails for a friend, and needed a nice ‘girly’ option just in case… That, and Sally Hansen was half price this week in one of our pharmacies, so I can never say no to that.

First Blush is a pretty, girly, pale pink. In the jar it reminds me of some type of strawberry candy, so cute and tasty! On the nail, not so much. But I think I prefer this on the nail, one of the few polishes I actually like more on the nail than in the bottle. It dries quickly, like all of the Xtreme Wears I have, and it has a super glossy finish! It looks fantastic on my skin tone too, if I do say so myself!

The one downside to First Blush is that it is uber sheer. I’m wearing three thick (and I mean THICK) coats in the picture and there’s still a fair bit of nail line showing. So this is one I would wear over a white base for sure. Application was fantastic, I love Sally Hansen’s brush, I find it really easy to use.

What do you think? Is it a colour you would wear a lot? I probably won’t, but I’d use it on other people for sure!

BYS Scented Bright Yellow.

Picked this up today for $3.50. Purely because it’s scented… well… it’s MEANT to be. Supposedly, once its dry, this polish is meant to be banana scented. I, however, was very disappointed, because it just smells awful, and exactly the same as every other BYS I own…

However, the colour is GORGEOUS, so I’m still happy. It’s a bright, but not overly neon, yellow frost. I really love it. It dried pretty quickly, and is opaque in 2 coats. Easy to remove too, which for me is a bonus, because I’ve done like 5 lots of swatches today haha.

So all in all, a good polish, but disappointing in that it doesn’t deliver its main selling point.
P.S please ignore my awful cuticle. I slipped while trying to open something and my thumbnail sliced my cuticle open. that happened 4 days ago, and its still this bad D: and owie.

Butter LONDON- Yummy Mummy.

My first BL! butter LONDON is about $22 a jar here in Oz, which is bullshit if you ask me, but this was free with a magazine that i’m gonna be throwing away lol. So $8.95 is ok with me!

Now, Yummy Mummy. I really do not like the name, but i LOVE the polish. Ugh. Divine. It is the perfect nude shade for my skin tone, and it has just the right amount of shimmer. Its almost a dusty colour, but still very pretty.
Application was perfect, went on smooth and dried quickly. And, opaque in two coats.

Butter LONDON has left a great first impression on me, my only complaint is the price. And, as I was walking home with the polish, I got a call for a job interview in the morning so now I have the perfect colour for it!

Dita’s Wonderbra!

I adore Dita,  and a friend who is also a fan asked me to do some Dita themed nails. So after a quick google search, I found her Wonderbra ad. So pretty right? My mani was a simple one, the lace was a bit hard to recreate though, so I kinda did my own thing. I used two coats of Ulta3’s Silver Grey over a coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, and used BYS Black Satin for the details. I have expressed my dislike for Ulta3’s metallics before, they always bubble no matter what, application is tricky and they seem to take forever to dry. This time was different though, thankfully. It still bubbled a bit, but nowhere near as bad as previous times.
Overall, pretty happy with this mani, its cute yet simple!

Another Marble

decided to try and water marble my own nails for the first time last night. I usually fail epically at marbling, but for some reason, this was a success! I really love it.
I used:
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Green With Envy
OPI In My Back Pocket
OPI Do You Lilac It?

Neon Leopards

ORLY - Space Cadet

My first Orly! Every polish I’ve gotten this week has been a first, purely because being a polish enthusiast in Australia sucks. We get such a small selection, and it’s so over priced. $15 for one OPI bottle? I’ll stick to buying online…
But I digress. Space Cadet. LOVE IT. It’s from the Cosmic FX collection that came out last year. Its a beautiful colour-changing jar of magic! The prominent colour is mauve, but with only one thin coat on the nail, the green base is really noticeable. Theres also a bronzey gold in there, I really love these colours together. It’s opaque in two coats, it builds really well, but out of habit I’ve used three coats.
The one down side to this polish is that it is pretty hard to photograph. Thats why I made a collage ;) the top left picture is in direct sun, then shade, the green only shows up at that angle inside my house, and the bottom photo is the best picture to show all the colours, with my hand in some water.
ps. i know its sideways, i don’t know why, or how to fix it.

Monday 5 December 2011

KleanColor Holo Green

My first KleanColor! And boy did i pick a good one! This is 3 coats, its quite sheer but will rock over other colours. and OMG the holo! in certain light you can even see red!
So in love

OPI DS Coronation

Love love love! This is my first polish from the DS collection and i have no regrets. Three very thin coats and its opaque, and it dried soooo quickly!

Sunday 4 December 2011

Ulta3 Hollywood with Ulta3 Blue Glitter.

I love this colour combo! Hollywood is a pretty, shimmery royal blue. very pretty on its own, but i put two layers of Blue Glitter (original name right?) over the top and i love love love it! Blue Glitter is a clear base jam packed with micro silver glitter and slightly larger brightish blue glitter. it also dries SO smooth, not gritty at all like most glitters.
I have a fair few polishes that have perfect glitter matches, i do love it as an idea.

Saturday 3 December 2011

Crystallina

Something nice and girly for today :)
I used Ulta3’s Crystallina for the base, NYC Colours Night for the tips and China Glazes Coconut Kiss for the decorations. this does look so much better in the sun though, my house is dark and the purple is hard to see…

OPI’s Zom-Body To Love

I love glow in the dark, I really do, which is why I jumped at the chance to buy this duo. I already have a Black Shatter but it sucks so I needed a new one.
Zom-body to love is…interesting. On the plus side, cute colour, dries quickly, doesn’t smell too bad, and has a good formula.
However, I had to use FOUR coats to get even the slightest amount of glow in it. And I was soooo disappointed in the lack of glow, but thats probably just the big kid in me coming out. its also quite gritty to touch too…
That said, I will absolutely be using this. a lot…

Thursday 1 December 2011

China Glaze Coconut Kiss

I love CG’s purples. This is no exception. Gorgeous, deep shimmery/metallicy purple/violet with a warmish tone. And it’s super glossy!
Coconut Kiss is from the Fiji Fling collection, definitely a colour I would wear on an island holiday ;)
Down side to this colour is it’s sheer-ness. This is two coats, but I really should have used 3, cos if you look closely, there are still a few bald spots and VNL. It dries pretty darn quickly too, which is a bonus, because I am clumsy as all hell and knocked my nails instantly.
But it is a delightful colour, I’m stuck trying to decide which of my two new CG’s I like better!

China Glaze Gussied Up Green

OH. MY. GOD. Words cannot describe how much I love this colour. Well, they could but I would be here for a looooong time.
Gussied Up Green is from the fall 2008 Rodeo Diva collection. Its a true emeraldy, rich, petrol green with the perfect amount of shimmer. Its almost a one coater, but I added a second coat and it gave it so much more depth.
My only complaint is that its not sunny today, so the subtle purple shimmer really doesn’t show up.
But I urge you, BUY THIS POLISH! haha. but seriously… Its an instant favourite

Liepard Nails!

Liepard is a Pokemon (nerdy, I know, but I love it!) and I think it is just gorgeous! I used Ulta3’s Eighties Fuschia and Ulta3s Frangipani to make this look. Yellow and purple look so good together in my opinion.

Manson Inspired Nails!

I am a true rock chick, it’s really no secret. I did this this morning, just painted my nails with NYC Colours Chilli (which is an AMAZING colour I might add) and was watching the Dope Show film clip and saw his make up. I used OPIs In My Back Pocket for the orange, and the yellow is China Glaze’s Sunshine and the silver dots are NYC Colours Tin Roof
Ps. PLEASE ignore the mess haha not having a good steady hand day!

Jon LaJoie Inspired Nails!

If you haven’t heard of Jon, please, check out his youtube! He is an amazingly funny comedian/singer,who is most famous for his character MC Vagina (pictured). The tacky shirt is trademark for the MC and I love it, so I turned it into nails! Very 80’s haha! I used Ulta3 Tahiti (I have a swatch for the colour coming up soon) for the base, with Ulta3 Frangipani and BYS Blue Bang for the pattern. Also, it’s quite cloudy out atm and they’re still HEAPS bright!
