Gloss n' Sparkle Goblins Grave Swatches and Review

Hey there! Another Gloss n' Sparkle today, this one, I struggle for words. It's amazing. Just superb.

Goblins Grave. Dark green jelly base packed with green and some holo glitters. We all know the glitter + green = Bec likey.

Like all other of my Gn'S polishes, this applied perfectly. I have never had to fish the glitter out of any of these, and have had no problems at all. I used 3 coats here, and it does look a bit sheer, but it is a jelly base so that's ok. I like it! It dried nice and quick, but I did top it off with 2 coats of SV to smooth it out.

My pictures cannot do this one justice. It is really, really, REALLY awesome. I was constantly staring at my hands when I wore this.

What do you think about Goblins Grave?

Grey Layering with China Glaze!

I am on such a layering kick lately. I love the options it leaves open for me to play with. This one, however is totally different to what I've been doing lately, and is dark and autumn-y.

I used another of my untrieds, China Glaze Recycle, and awesome grey creme. I now have 2 greys, so I'm a bit picky with them. I used 3 coats, and then over the top on my two middle fingers I put on a coat of Some Like It Haute, another China Glaze. Topped it off with a coat of SV and voila! It's an awesome combo, they match together so well!

I have more layering to show you in the coming days, so stay tuned!

Until Next Time,

I have a real nails post coming later tonight, so until then,

Neon ZigZags!

It's been glorious and sunny for the past few days, and it's bringing out the neon lover in me! Today I've got a remake of one of my very first attempts at nail art. I was going to add a picture, but the one on my PC has vanished. But it was baaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

I used a base of 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, then added 2 coats of Orly Glowstick and did the pattern with a small brush and Ulta3 Tahiti and topped it off with SV.

This is heaps brighter in person, my camera spazzed out and couldn't handle the brightness! I struggled to look at it in the sun because it felt like my eyes would melt, so if you like neons, you NEED this one!

I'm much happier with how this one looks, especially compared to the original! I'll be remaking a few more manis soon too!

Until Next Time,

Gloss n' Sparkle Royal Flash Swatch and Review

Hey Hey! Another Gloss n' Sparkle today, and this one is a doozy!

Royal Flash is a mix of red hex glitter in two different sizes, and black and silver glitter shards. I love it so much, it's easily my favourite layering glitter now.

I chose to layer this over a bold, contrasting colour, so I went with Ulta3 Blue Marlin, and I loved the results!

2 coats of Royal Flash, over 3 coats of Blue Marlin, topped off with 2 coats of Seche to smooth things out perfectly. This is very easy to apply, the first coat I made a bit too thin, but a slightly thicker 2nd coat gave good coverage. The glitter applied without any dabbing needed, but I would suggest until the first coat is totally dry before doing the second.

I really like this combo, it's perfect for occasions like Australia Day! Such a versatile glitter too!

Gloss n' Sparkle polishes retail for $10AUD each (13ml jars), and are all 3-free. She currently doesn't ship overseas, but is working on it!

Until Next Time!

Neon, Holo, Drips!

This combo is awesome! Seriously... I did this design (same colours and all) on a friend last night, and I loved it so much I had to do it on my own nails!

3 coats each of Nfu-Oh #61 and China Glaze I'm With The Lifeguard, and then when it was all dry, I used a 2-way nail art pen and did the drips. How awesome is it though?! No topcoat on the holo though, because the top coat dulls it (on me anyway), but there is on the neon.

I think I'll be rocking this a lot more when summer hits, with different colour combos too!

Until Next Time!

Layering with Fantasy Fire!

The highly sought after Max Factor Fantasy Fire was released in Australia recently, and I HAD to grab it! I ended up getting 2, but I will definitely go back for more, because those bottles are so darn small!

The first time I wore it, I put it over Barry M Navy (I think it was 2 coats Navy, and one coat FF) and it looked lovely!

But today, I layered it over Petites Zodiac, and WOW!

This is 3 coats of Zodiac, and one of FF, topped with SV. My camera spazzed out, and couldn't capture the awesome sparkliness that this mani has. The glass flecky goodness of Zodiac mixes perfectly with the multichrome shimmer of FF.

I now want to layer FF over EVERYTHING! Yup, gonna have to grab a few more jars!

Until Next Time,

Gloss n' Sparkle Unicorn Droppings Swatches and Review

Hey hey! Sorry for my slight absence of late, it's been a hectic week, and to cap it all off, I've gone and gotten sick! Anywhoo, today I have another of my Gloss n' Sparkle reviews for you, and I KNOW that this one is going to be a best seller! And, it's also totally appropriate because I have two birthday shindigs this weekends (Happy Birthday Cienna and Louise!) and it's such a party colour!

HOW COOL IS THAT?! It's a sheer, but buildable white white base packed with red, orange, yellow, blue, green and purple hex glitter. But I was surprised to see that it's also packed with holographic shimmer! Whaaaaaaat?! I struggled to capture it, because I struggled to get any sunlight, but it's definitely there!

I mentioned that this was sheer, but buildable. And it is. This is 3 coats, with 2 coats of SV (I didn't need the 2nd coat, I just did it because I prefer 2). It dried quickly, but I suggest waiting until each coat is dry before doing the next, because the glitter may move. I didn't have any trouble with the glitter application either, it was easy.

My favourite thing though, is the name. This is exactly what Unicorn poop should look like. It's bright, majestical and fun.

Gloss n' Sparkle polishes retail for $10AUD each (13ml jars), and are all 3-free. She currently doesn't ship overseas, but is working on it!

What do you think of Unicorn Droppings?

Until Next Time!

Fiery Dotticure!

I don't break out my dotting tools that often, and after seeing some awesome 'dotticures' around the blogosphere lately, I decided to try and do one of my own!

I used 2 coats of my trusty OPI Ridge Filler base coat, because last time I wore Deborah Lippmann's Footloose (the red!), it stained like hell! And this time, even with the extra base coat, I still got some epic staining! Bummer :(

So, after the base coat, I started with 2 coats of Footloose, then using both ends of a double ended dotting tool, I dotted on OPI In My Back Pocket (one of my fav oranges!) and then some China Glaze Lemon Fizz. And I topped it all off with a thick coat of SV (my jar needs thinning!) and voila! It's fiery, bright and fun!

I love how this turned out, I want to try and do some pastel dotticures!

Until Next Time,

Some layering for Saturday!

Hey Hey! Today I have some layering to show you. I took part in the recent Cult Nails sale and after a long battle with the Post Office to actually GET my package (in short, my postie needs to pay more attention), I was so keen to open my polish burritos.

I only ordered 3, but I had to play with one first, Hypnotize Me. I had NO idea it was a duochrome glitter. I just thought it was green, but hey, even better! So I layered it over another green-blue duo polish, China Glaze Gussied Up Green. sure the duo shift isn't hugely noticeable, but it is gorgeous!

It's so lush, I love it! Sparkly, duochrome-y, glittery goodness. This is 2 coats of GUG and one of Hypnotize Me, topped with one coat of SV to make it smooth.

I do need to add a few drops of thinner to Hypnotize Me though, it was pretty thick! I do love how this looks, I'm already thinking of other combos for Hypnotize Me... Purple anyone???

Until Next Time,

Gloss n' Sparkle Cotinga Swatches and Review

Hey hey! Today I have the first of 6 polishes to show you from Australian Indie brand Gloss n' Sparkle.

Angela makes some pretty amazing glitter polishes, some very unique shades in her shop! The one I have for you today, Cotinga, is a real stunner!

According to the Etsy description, Cotinga is:

"A glitter top coat in a clear suspension base, with blue, aqua, teal, turquoise, lavender, purple and silver hex and shredded glitter"

And that sums it up pretty nicely! It's an amazing peacock-y glitter mix, it is super sparkly and has an awesome mix of glitters. And no bar glitters! (words cannot explain how much I dislike bar glitter!)

So for my swatch, I wanted the perfect colour for it. I was reaching for china Glaze For Audrey, but I spied Turned Up Turquoise (I love it so much) first and knew it would work. I started with 2 coats:

Yes, I know my naked nails are rather stained... but lets focus on the sparkles shall we? ;D

After TUT was dry, I painted a stripe of Cotinga covering the tips, and one coat on the accent nail. I left that to dry and then added another full coat over every nail. So basically, 2 coats accent, 1.5 coats tipped nails.

This is all finished off with 2 coats of Seche Vite, just to make sure everything is smooth. I love this so much, the combination of the polishes, but moreso that glitter alone, it is so, so awesome.

The formula was good, on the thick side, but definitely manageable. And it didn't take too long to dry, and I didn't have to 'fish' any of the glitter out or dab it on.

Unfortunately, Gloss n' Sparkle do not ship internationally at the moment, but it is something Angela is working on!

What do you think? Would you wear Cotinga?

Until Next Time!

BFF Challenge - Floral

AKA why I don't watermarble a lot! Haha... Todays theme is the last, and it's floral. Being that it is Spring here in Australia now, and the weather this past weekend was lovely, I did a very 'Spring' manicure!

A spring, petal, pastel watermarble! I used one coat of Ulta3 Lily White, and then the rest of the colours are all China Glaze- For Audrey, Something Sweet, Lemon Fizz and Refresh-mint topped off with Fairy Dust and Seche Vite!

The yellow makes me lobster-y, and it's not the best marbling, but I really like it. Subtle and cute!

Thanks to all the girls in the BFF Challenge, it's been fun!

Until next time!

BFF Challenge; Cath Kidston

Hey hey! Last week of the BFF Challenge, and lucky last is Sally from Nail Pron! Now, I'm not gonna lie, I was dreading this one. Until a few days ago, I had no idea who Cath Kidston was, or any ideas...

I eventually found something that was cute and that gave me some inspiration!

The pillows, more specifically;

I used China Glaze For Audrey, China Glaze Something Sweet, Ulta 3 Lily White, Ulta3 Hot Spring, OPI Green-Wich Village and topped it off with Seche Vite.

I'm so happy with the way this turned out, it's not my style, but I love it!

take a peak at my other challengers!

Until next time!

piCture pOlish Monroe!

Hey hey! Another polish from my epic spending in the past 2 months, piCture pOlish Monroe. I knew I needed to get this one before it was discontinued, but they recently announced that it will be reformulated and re-released soon!

Monroe is a blood red jelly with gorgeous holographic sparkles in it. Click on all the photos to enlarge them, you really need to see this one!

Three coats with one coat of Seche Vite. This is such an awesome shade, easy to apply and dried quickly. I really love the holo sparkles in this, they're subtle, but gorgeous! I'm definitely excited to see the 'new' version, and I'll probably buy it! What do you think?

Until Next Time,

<3 Bec
