Neon ZigZags!

It's been glorious and sunny for the past few days, and it's bringing out the neon lover in me! Today I've got a remake of one of my very first attempts at nail art. I was going to add a picture, but the one on my PC has vanished. But it was baaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

I used a base of 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, then added 2 coats of Orly Glowstick and did the pattern with a small brush and Ulta3 Tahiti and topped it off with SV.

This is heaps brighter in person, my camera spazzed out and couldn't handle the brightness! I struggled to look at it in the sun because it felt like my eyes would melt, so if you like neons, you NEED this one!

I'm much happier with how this one looks, especially compared to the original! I'll be remaking a few more manis soon too!

Until Next Time,

Orly Dazzle

Hello again! Quick-ish post tonight, got so much going on I'm actually putting off bed to do this! I just started a second course, getting to the crunch end of the semester in nail school, just got approved for a new house and have to move in two weeks, AND I have the flu.

So I needed a pick-me-up colour on Sunday night. I grabbed one of my untrieds, Orly Dazzle. I've used this HEAPS for nail art, but never actually worn it on its own. How I waited this long I do not know.

How sweet is that? It's a metallic, foily, chromey silver with added micro glitter for extra shimmer. I am so in love with this. Honestly, I cannot stop staring! It almost glows in the shade;

See?! This is the perfect silver! It's opaque in 2 coats, dries quickly and is just amazing.

Best thing is, I bought this off a blog sale. For a dollar. A FREAKING DOLLAR! Bargain or what? But I know I'll need a back up bottle pretty soon!

I think this might be good underwear for my silver holos too!

Now, a matching gold.... Any ideas?

Until Next Time

Orly Glowstick

Hello again! Gloomy, rainy day today, and I'm pretty sick, so I'm taking the day off of both my courses (Business and Nails) to attempt to recoup! And because it's not the best weather for photos, I've got something I swatched over the weekend.

Orly Glowstick is from the Summer 2012 collection, Feel The Vibe. Now, the inner child in me giggled a little (ok, a lot!) when I first saw that name... BUT, I love neons. And coming into winter, I will probably wear lots of them. I don't believe in sticking to certain colours for certain seasons. Where's the fun in that?

Glowstick is a CRAZY bright neon yellow. SO SO BRIGHT. I can't even BEGIN to explain how much I love this. Normally, I would layer this over white, but I've read other bloggers say it can achieve opacity in 3-4 coats. Almost! I have 4 coats on in these photos, no base or top coat. There is still a pretty noticeable VNL, but in direct sunlight, you can barely tell!

It doesn't dry totally matte either, which is refreshing for a neon. Don't get me wrong, it's not glossy, more of a satiny finish. Perfect neon if you ask me!

I'm really loving the neons that are coming out this season. I plan to get a few more from the Feel The Vibe collection, and a fair few of the China Glaze Summer Neons (I'm looking at you, I'm With The Lifeguard!)...

How about you? Any of the current neons interest you?

Until Next Time,

PCF Summer Challenge Day 1!

Woo! Here we go!

Todays challenge is  "the Olympic Torcdh starts its journey". Not a big olympic fan, but hey, always worth a shot!

I used Ulta 3 Jellybean for my 'ocean,' used a nail art pen to dot and stripe the points where the torch lands and a gradient of Orly Glowstick, Mode Rave'n and Ulta3 Sizzling Red for the flame!

Day 15- Favourite Band

This one was hard, I love so many bands. I’m a headbanger at heart, the heavier the better. But Van Halen have been a favourite of mine since I was 7 or so.

I used my red holo franken for the base, BYS Black Satin, NYC Colors Casper and Orly Dazzle for the art

Creative Lacquer Challenge Day 8- Cartoons

I LOVE CARTOONS! Seriously, so much. So I just painted what I was watching last night, Futurama.

So from thumb to pinky, theres Fry, Bender, Leela, Zoidberg and the Planet Express ship!

Creative Lacquer Challenge Day 7- Charity

So I spent some time googling what each colour charity ribbon stands for and I found one thats perfect for me.

Grey ribbons for asthma. I know its “lame,” because its not a cancer ribbon, but I suffer from severe asthma. Mine is so bad its a chronic illness, and I have to take steroids to control it. I get bronchitis at least twice a year due to it and it sucks.

So grey ribbon is my choice for charity themed nails. I used Orlys Plum Noir for the base, and Orly Dazzle for the tips. The ribbon is Essence The Dawn Is Broken.

Creative Lacquer Challenge Day 2 - Fav Colour

Its kinda obvious isn’t it? lol
I used a base coat of OPI Nail Envy, then OPI Gargantuan Green Grape Matte (SO hard to apply), then sponged on Orly Here Comes Trouble and more sponging with OPI Fresh Frog Of Bel Air

Don't forget to head over to see what  Caitlin has done for Day 2!

Until Next time!

Orly Androgynie

Hello again! It's 12:15 am and I've not long gotten my power back after an outage, so you get a late night swatch! And today it comes from Orly's Holiday Soiree collection from 2011. Androgynie was a lemming of mine for a while, and then I realised I should just buy it! So I did, and it sat there in my untrieds pile for a while... a few months at least...

Androgynie is a black jelly base packed with hexagonal iridescent glitters, some holo glitter, and golden glass flecks. Sounds amazing right? Well... it is...

in the shade

Pretty huh? I do quite enjoy it. Androgynie  has it's ups and downs though. Lets start with the cons first shall we... Its kinda hard to apply, the hex glitter doesn't like to co-operate. It's also hard to get any of the hex glitter on the brush unless you stand the bottle upside down for a few minutes before using it. It's a little on the sheer side, I am wearing three coats over a base coat of OPI Nail Envy Matte, and I wish I had swatched it over a black polish... It took a little while to dry as well.

And, because I had let my bottle sit there for a while, all the hex glitter was having a party at the bottom of the jar...

But on the plus side, it's pretty. Very, very pretty. Its not like anything else i have in my collection, come to think of it, most of my Orly's are unique to my stash...

I want in on the glitter party
I feel like this polish lives up to its name, I can totally see men wearing this. Maybe matted. Maybe I should matte it... oooooooh :D
I shall leave you with a blurry pic, which shows off the sparkle, as I have my first post of the Creative Lacquer Challenge to post!

Until Next time!
