Born Pretty Store Coloured Rhinestone Review

I apologise once again for my absence, thins in my personal life have been happening and it's put the blog on the back burner. This review is long overdue, and I am so sorry for that, but anyways...

Browsing Born Pretty Store I came across these amazing rhinestones and needed them in my life. Bad. They were even more beautiful in person too!

They shift from purple, to green, to copper. Multichrome rhinestones! They're also ridiculously sparkly. I paired them with back and Glitter Gal Purple Holo (with matching rhinestone lid!) and covered my whole nail in them using a dotting tool and top coat. Love it! These stones are really very high quality, I cannot praise them enough!

If you want to try these, or anything from Born Prettys amazing range of nail art supplies, use my code AFL91 for 10% off!

31DC - Catch Up!

I've missed the last few days! Life got in the way big time, but I have all my missed days for catch up today!

Day 27 was Artwork. I chose an incredibly recognizable 'painting' for mine, the sailboat painting in the Simpsons house!

Day 28 was  Flag. I was stumped, so I did cute little racing flags!

And today, day 29 was Supernatural. Totally uninspired today, so I did a creepy graveyard/tree over a base of Sayuri Graveyard Whispers.

Annnnnnnnnnd I'm all caught up! Yay!

31DC - Pattern!

I kinda just made this pattern up on the fly. It was quick and easy and I am too tired to function.

I used black for a base, and my design is hand painted with China Glaze Techno Teal. Techno Teal is AWESOME. I need to finish my Tronica collection one day!

Sorry for the short post,  I'm knackered (again)!

31DC - Inspired by Fashion!

Super quickie tonight, I am knackered! I am the least fashionable person sometimes, my wardrobe is 99% black/band shirts. So instead of spending hours trawling google, I chose my favourite dress that I own for todays Fashion prompt. However, I can't find my dress, nor pictures on Google. WTF. It exists I promise!

It's black, and has green lace trim with green bats all over, and is made by Sourpuss. LOVE. I used Ulta3 Black Satin and Color Club Twiggie. Ta daaaa!

Now, I have a dress to find...

31DC - Inspired by a Book!

I'm not a big reader. Not at all. The only books in my house are a few horror novels, a buttload of Formula 1 books, and a Skyrim guide book. So I was totally lost with this prompt... until I saw a reference to one of my favourite books as a kid.

Where's Wally? (or Waldo for some!) My lines are messy as hell, and my fingers are still stained blue (damn you hair!), but I love this. One of my fave manis in this challenge so far!

31DC - Inspired by a Movie!

I did this mani in about 10 minutes tonight, was lacking inspiration for an idea so I did my "fall back" nail art - Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I used Ulta3 Black Satin and Lily White. I made the pinstripes sheer and messy, as I feel it suits Jack more than crisp, clean lines.

Also, please please please ignore the odd blue tinge to my hand, I've just redyed my hair, and blue dye gets EVERYWHERE!

31DC - Inspired by a song!

I TOTALLY ran out of time to get any nail art done today, so I'm cheating today. I just have a swatch of a polish I've shown before, that's named after a song.

Gloss n Sparkle Pink Cigarette (song by Mr Bungle). Still a great song, still an amazing polish!

I promise I won't cheat again for the rest of the challenge!

31DC - Inspired by a Colour!

I never understood this day, it's almost like a repeat of the first 7 days of the challenge... so I did my own thing and chose a colourful polish that I love. So, this mani is totally inspired by a certain polish - Gloss n Sparkles Land of Sunshine.

I've layered one coat over white, and my accent nail is a graffiti style mash up using Essie Butler Please, Sea Siren Sailaway Heather, and Color Club Twiggie. Land of Sunshine is a must have for those that love eye catching glitters!

31DC - Watermarble!

Majority of 31dc'ers dreaded today, and I was one of them. I don't watermarble nearly enough to be fantastic at it, but I can pull of an OK one. And that's pretty much what I did today. Some people get all funky and creative, I went for subtle.

I used Face Of Australia Travilla and Color Club Worth The Risque. Nude and holo. Good mix! I ended up doing all four fingers shown in one marble (I have no idea what to say, I dunked them all in the same pattern at once) and I like the results. Mind you, I tried at LEAST 6 combos before this one. I need to marble more :/

I'm glad that's done!

31DC - Galaxy!

I love a good galaxy mani, but I definitely do not do them enough! So I was excited to do one again today, and I only used a tiny 6 polishes!

My base is OPI Ink, and then, in order, I sponged on Dollish Polish Northern Lights, China Glaze OMG A UFO, Zoya Blu and then Gloss n Sparkle Spectrum for a multi coloured sparkle. My 'stars' are done with Sea Siren Tranquility. I was 10435574676858% unsure of how this combo of polishes worked out, but I LOVED it!

Tomorrow is watermarble day. Oh dear...

Until Next Time,

31DC - Half Moons!

I don't do a lot of half-moon manis. Mostly because I have to freehand them, and I am not good at that. I was searching for a good colour combo for this, and pulled out two Color Club polishes I haven't used in a long time - Revvvolution and Love Em Leave Em.

Neutral holo goodness! I ended up loving this one.

31DC - Glitter!

Glittaaaaaaaah! I love me some glitter, and Aussie Indies do it better than anyone else. This particular glitter is a special one, because it was a part of the What's In-die Box? a month or two ago. I didn't buy the box, but was gifted this stunner by a very lovely friend.

Gloss 'n Sparkle Beetlejuice. It has back, white, purple and holo glitter in a clear base. I used one coat over Ulta3 Tahiti, Sea Siren Mojito Madness and Illamasqua Stance, and on my ring finer, 2 coats alone. It's SUPER packed with glitter, crazy sparkly and soooo easy to apply. I am in LOVE. The reasoning for my undie colour combo is basically, I couldn't choose which of the 3 I wanted to use, so I used all of them!

Until Next  Time,

31DC - Geometric!

Geometric is a weird one. So I took it a bit weird. My mani today is an obscure one, but I love it! It's a Porygon mani!

For those unaware, Porygon is a Pokemon. Notably famous for having one episode about it, an then that episode NEVER being shown because it caused children to have seizures!

For my mani, I used different parts of Porygon for each finger, and used Sally Hansen I Pink I Can and a BYS Blue (called Blue, believe it or not). I loved this SO hard, until my top coat smudged it badly.

31DC - Delicate Print!

Delicate print. So not keen. Delicate and I have never got along, I'm more of a bull in a china shop. So, for this one, I cheated a little. I'll also be doing another Born Pretty Store review in this too.

When I think delicate, I think either nude or pastel colours. So Face of Australia Travilla is definitely perfect.

I used some water decals for 'delicacy' and then I piled on a bunch of rhinestones from this mixed stone wheel as an accent. The stones in this wheel are fantastic quality, and gorgeous, but HUGE. I didn't find them overbearing on the nail though.

If you want some some of these stones for yourself, or any other nail art goodies from Born Pretty, use my code for 10% off : AFL91

31DC - Flowers!

Never really have I been a floral fan. This time of year, flowers are my enemy (hayfever sufferers feel me!), and I try to avoid them. For this prompt, I decided to try another new technique to me, one stroke painting.

I used standard black and white, along with Sea Sirens Buccaneer, and ended up with some vampy flowers! The one stroke was surprisingly easy, especially because most people recommend using acrylic paints!

31DC - Animal Print!

Todays post is a mash up of two things - the 31DC, and a Born Pretty Store review.

The theme for today is animal print, and I went with leopard print, the easy route. But, I did it mainly so I could use these ADORABLE Water Decals from BPS.

HOW CUTE IS THAT CAT?! Argh it's so cute! I popped him over a base gradient of Sea Sirens Sea Mist and Tranquility. The spots are Revlon Royal and Illamasqua Stance. The water decals are super simple to use, just like a temporary tattoo. No smudging with topcoat, and no air bubbles. Very easy to use!

31DC - Stripes!

I have never been creative when it comes to stripes. Usually I would just do some type of pinstripe/rose thing, buuuuuuut I wanted to steer away from that this time.

This turned out okay for freehanded! I used Sea Siren Coral Atoll, black, white and Sea Sirens Sea Matte top coat. I like this, but it somehow reminds me of a sporting uniform of some type!

31DC - Dots!

Today is meant to be 'polka dots' but I really didn't want to do a polka dot thing, so I made my own rules, changed it to dots and tried a new technique.

Interlocking dots! Seen this around heaps, but never tried it. Very simple to do! I used Love Thy Polish A Beautiful Mistake and China Glaze 2Nite to do this, and it was super holo!

Also, officially a third of the way through! I've had a blast so far.

31DC - Gradient!

I've a few gradients lined up in the next few days, including yesterday, and I somehow managed to make the actual gradient prompt the most boring of the lot!

I wanted to pair some polishes I've not worn in a while, so I rummaged and found A England Tess D'ubervilles and Gloss n' Sparkle The Huntress.

Because the base is so dark and shimmery, I matted it so you can see the glitters better. The base of The Huntress paired perfectly with Tess!

31DC - Rainbow!

Day 9 is Rainbow nails! I was almost tempted to do a watermarble, but then I remembered that they are evil. So I pulled out a buttload of sparkly, textured polishes and made a rainbow!

I used (in order) OPI Alcatraz Rocks! Julie G Sugar Plum Fairy, Sleigh Ride and Misteltoe, China Glaze I'm Not Lion, OPI Jinx, Rimmel Precious Stones Ruby Crush,  and China Glaze United.

No top coat on these make even the non textured polishes rough and gritty, therefore, perfect for this!

Until Next Time,

<3 Bec

31DC - Metallic!

I don't have many "metallic" polishes, but when I want something crazy metallic, there's only one polish I reach for- Orly Dazzle. Such a stunning, pigmented silver.

However, just like yellows, this gives me lobster hands big time! Love it though. This mani was inspired by a Robin Moses tutorial, too. I love her work.

31DC - Black and White!

I'm not sure why, but the Black and White prompt scared me a little. It's a bit limited, so to try and think of something was a bit hard! But, I thought about it for a bit, and almost recreated my BlogFest mani, but remembered how fiddly it was and thought NOPE. I did use the Nail Vinyls anyway!

I used Ult3 Black Satin and BYS French White. Simple but I like it. I wore this mani for a day afterwards.

Until Next Time,

31DC - Violet/Purple

I think Day 6's prompt, "Violet" should just be renamed Purple, because Violet is a bit...specific. Regardless, I LOVE purples, and especially the two I used for this mani!

On my index and pinky fingers, I used Color Club Pucci-Licious and for the middle and ring fingers, as well as the glitter placement, I used Gloss n Sparkles One Step Beyond. I cannot recommend this polish enough! I adore it!

Until Next Time,

31DC - Blue!

I love a good blue polish, and more than any other, cobalt blues. So for day 4 of the 31 day challenge, a good cobalt blue had to come out. Cue Sea Siren Ultramarine.  SUCH a good colour! ]

I paired this with Gloss n Sparkle Tonality, and picked out some silver holo dots from an unnamed polish. Simple, cute, blue ;)

31DC - Green!

My favourite colour! Funny story about todays mani - it matches my pedi! I had a bit of a brain freeze when thinking about what to do, looked down and Bam! Idea. The only difference is, my big toe is the accent nail.

I used Illamasqua Omen and Nail Vinyls for this look. I love this green, it's UV reactive too!

I've been having so much fun with this challenge so far!

Until Next Time,

31DC - Yellow!

Yellow is one of those colours that just does not look good on my skin tone, no matter what shade. But, nothing says yellow like Orly Glowstick, the brightest yellow EVER.

I decided to try a technique I've not tried yet, nor do I know what it's called! All I know is you wipe as much polish as possible off the brush and brush it onto the nail lightly. I did it over a white base and used a standard black polish and Glowstick to make the effect, and then I matted the whole mani with Sea Sirens Sea Matte.

Until Next Time,

31DC - Orange!

Day 2 is orange. I LOVE me some orange polishes, and again, I used one of my favourites - OPI Jinx. A gorgeous orange texture, with golden shimmer. I was originally going to do a textured gradient, but accidentally ended up with this, which I absolutely love!

2 coats of Jinx, which I then topped with a thin coat of China Glaze I'm Not Lion. This is so sparkly I couldn't get it to photograph properly but this is pretty amazing.

Simple, but sparkly, and that is day 2!

Until Next Time,

31 Day Chalenge 2014 - Red!

Considering I rarely blog these days, I myself think I'm crazy, but here we are, day 1 of the 31 day challenge! I don't have time daily to do the manis, so I spent my Sunday doing up days 1-8 in advance!

Day 1 is Red. So, I pulled out my favourite (and sadly, discontinued) red, Ozotic 518, and added Ozotic 526 (again, discontinued - sorry!) and did a drag marble.

It could have turned out better, but I like it. I love these two polishes together!

So, that's day 1, and I cannot wait to show you day 2!

Until Next Time,

piCture pOlish Blog/Insta Fest 2014!

It's BlogFest time! piCture pOlish very generously puts this event on every year, and this year I am participating again!

This year, there are two parts to BlogFest. Part 1, is to swatch a polish! The polish I recieved for this part was Electric Dream, a collab shade with Nail Polish Anon. Electric Dream is a bold pink with golden shimmer and sparse holo particles. I used 2 coats, and top coat.

Part 2 was a little bit harder. Just a little bit. ;) Part 2 involved 2 polishes, and the inclusion of a new product PP will be stocking, Nail Vinyls. The polishes I got were Dream, a blue based bubblegum pink, and Malt Teaser, a chocolate brown. The vinyls I got are the zig-zag style.

I put down a base of 2 coat of Dream, and let it dry for about 2 hours (mostly because I had to go to the bank!). Then, I cut  group of vinyls in half, and placed them on my nails like this...

Then, I covered each nail (I did these one finger at a time) with a thick coat of Malt Teaser and immediately took the tape off. I loved the final result!

It was INCREDIBLY fiddly to do this mani, but I love the payoff! And that, lovely readers, is it for BlogFest 2014! Big thanks to the ladies at piCture pOlish for the chance again this year!

piCture pOlish can be found online here:

International Stockists: http://picturepolish.com.au/network

piCture pOlish will also be selling an exclusive 4 pack "Nail Vinyls" including Chevrons, Mini Chevrons, Straight and Right Angles.

Nail Vinyls can be found here:

Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment

Pale ladies who love to contour, if you haven't met Illamasquas Cream Pigment in Hollow, you are missing out! This is a gorgeous, matte, cool-toned, easy to use cream contour colour.

I was skeptical after buying this one, because I'd read SO many reviews and the colour was amazing, but upon buying it, it looked warmer. So, I wiped a layer off while swatching with my finger, and underneath was that gorgeous taupe I'd been wanting!
This is everything I've ever wanted in a contour colour! It wears all day, it's matte, cool toned, subtle, blends easy and is buildable. Because of the ashy colour, it creates a good 'shadow' effect.

I honestly could not recommend this more! As an added bonus, it can also be used as a cream base for eyeshadow! I haven't tried that yet though.

Until Next Time,

Acid Dotticure

Ah! I have a post! Just a quickie tonight, got more editing and post writing to do! This is a quick, easy, effective mani that can be done in any colour combo, but I chose an "acid" theme.

My base is 3 coats of OPI So Many Clowns, So Little Time and the dots are Illamasqua Omen and Ulta3 Black Satin, topped with Out The Door topcoat.

Simple, yet effective! I love a good dotticure.

Born Pretty Store 3D Cat Mold

I love cats! We all know this, so when I found this mold over at Born Pretty Store, I HAD to have it!

It's a small silicone mold that has four different sized (same shape) cats printed into it. You fill the holes with acrylic, wait for it to set, and they pop out so easily. I used the acrylic system that I use at work (convenience really) and had no troubles at all.

For this mani, I kept it pretty simple. I used a base of Face of Australia Travilla and BYS Black Satin for painting the cat and the pawprints. '

I stuck the cat on with top coat, and then top coated around it to seal it. I found it stuck quite nicely, but I didn't wear it long.

Born Pretty Store Pastel Circle Glitter

Another super cute, new-ish item from Born Pretty Store for you today! This loose glitter is absolutely ADORABLE, bright, and (to my surprise!) UV reactive!

It has two different sized circles, in a bunch of different colours. I used this in a glitter placement mani using a Sinful Colours that I CANNOT remember the name of, nor find at the moment (I will update ASAP!).

I LOVE this glitter. I've taken it to work and embedded it into acrylic and gel, as well as, obviously, nail polish. It is super versatile too! I placed it on the nails using a toothpick and some top coat. SO easy. If you want to by some, or anything else from Born Pretty Stores HUGE nail art range, use the code AF91 for 10% off

Born Pretty Store Mixed Rhinestone Wheel

I have been neglecting my poor blog lately, and there are a few reasons why. A lot has been going on, I've barely painted my nails and I've had a few bad breaks.  So PLEASE, ignore the state of my nails!

Today I have this gorgeous rhinestone wheel from Born Pretty Store to show you.

I have been going crazy with these, including at work, my clients LOVE them!

I've paired them with a simple black creme, BYS Black Satin. And then, using each size of the stones and  top coat, I applied the rhinestones. I find that with the larger ones, using tweezers is the best option.
 CLOSE UP!
These are amazing quality. AMAZING. They aren't dulled by top coat, they can be re-used and cleaned easily, they stick to the nail really well, I could go on! These are just phenomenal value for the quality, and if you want to by some, or anything else from Born Pretty Stores HUGE nail art range, use the code AF91 for 10% off
