piCture pOlish Blog/Insta Fest 2014!

It's BlogFest time! piCture pOlish very generously puts this event on every year, and this year I am participating again!

This year, there are two parts to BlogFest. Part 1, is to swatch a polish! The polish I recieved for this part was Electric Dream, a collab shade with Nail Polish Anon. Electric Dream is a bold pink with golden shimmer and sparse holo particles. I used 2 coats, and top coat.

Part 2 was a little bit harder. Just a little bit. ;) Part 2 involved 2 polishes, and the inclusion of a new product PP will be stocking, Nail Vinyls. The polishes I got were Dream, a blue based bubblegum pink, and Malt Teaser, a chocolate brown. The vinyls I got are the zig-zag style.

I put down a base of 2 coat of Dream, and let it dry for about 2 hours (mostly because I had to go to the bank!). Then, I cut  group of vinyls in half, and placed them on my nails like this...

Then, I covered each nail (I did these one finger at a time) with a thick coat of Malt Teaser and immediately took the tape off. I loved the final result!

It was INCREDIBLY fiddly to do this mani, but I love the payoff! And that, lovely readers, is it for BlogFest 2014! Big thanks to the ladies at piCture pOlish for the chance again this year!

Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment

Pale ladies who love to contour, if you haven't met Illamasquas Cream Pigment in Hollow, you are missing out! This is a gorgeous, matte, cool-toned, easy to use cream contour colour.

I was skeptical after buying this one, because I'd read SO many reviews and the colour was amazing, but upon buying it, it looked warmer. So, I wiped a layer off while swatching with my finger, and underneath was that gorgeous taupe I'd been wanting!
This is everything I've ever wanted in a contour colour! It wears all day, it's matte, cool toned, subtle, blends easy and is buildable. Because of the ashy colour, it creates a good 'shadow' effect.

I honestly could not recommend this more! As an added bonus, it can also be used as a cream base for eyeshadow! I haven't tried that yet though.

Until Next Time,

<3 Bec

Acid Dotticure

Ah! I have a post! Just a quickie tonight, got more editing and post writing to do! This is a quick, easy, effective mani that can be done in any colour combo, but I chose an "acid" theme.

My base is 3 coats of OPI So Many Clowns, So Little Time and the dots are Illamasqua Omen and Ulta3 Black Satin, topped with Out The Door topcoat.

Simple, yet effective! I love a good dotticure.

Born Pretty Store 3D Cat Mold

I love cats! We all know this, so when I found this mold over at Born Pretty Store, I HAD to have it!

It's a small silicone mold that has four different sized (same shape) cats printed into it. You fill the holes with acrylic, wait for it to set, and they pop out so easily. I used the acrylic system that I use at work (convenience really) and had no troubles at all.

For this mani, I kept it pretty simple. I used a base of Face of Australia Travilla and BYS Black Satin for painting the cat and the pawprints. '

I stuck the cat on with top coat, and then top coated around it to seal it. I found it stuck quite nicely, but I didn't wear it long.

Born Pretty Store Pastel Circle Glitter

Another super cute, new-ish item from Born Pretty Store for you today! This loose glitter is absolutely ADORABLE, bright, and (to my surprise!) UV reactive!

It has two different sized circles, in a bunch of different colours. I used this in a glitter placement mani using a Sinful Colours that I CANNOT remember the name of, nor find at the moment (I will update ASAP!).

I LOVE this glitter. I've taken it to work and embedded it into acrylic and gel, as well as, obviously, nail polish. It is super versatile too! I placed it on the nails using a toothpick and some top coat. SO easy. If you want to by some, or anything else from Born Pretty Stores HUGE nail art range, use the code AF91 for 10% off

Born Pretty Store Mixed Rhinestone Wheel

I have been neglecting my poor blog lately, and there are a few reasons why. A lot has been going on, I've barely painted my nails and I've had a few bad breaks.  So PLEASE, ignore the state of my nails!

Today I have this gorgeous rhinestone wheel from Born Pretty Store to show you.

I have been going crazy with these, including at work, my clients LOVE them!

I've paired them with a simple black creme, BYS Black Satin. And then, using each size of the stones and  top coat, I applied the rhinestones. I find that with the larger ones, using tweezers is the best option.
 CLOSE UP!
These are amazing quality. AMAZING. They aren't dulled by top coat, they can be re-used and cleaned easily, they stick to the nail really well, I could go on! These are just phenomenal value for the quality, and if you want to by some, or anything else from Born Pretty Stores HUGE nail art range, use the code AF91 for 10% off

Until Next Time,

Matching Nails and Makeup!

Long-ish time, no see! Life has been a bit hectic, blah blah blaaah. ANYWAY, last weekend I met up with some fellow Adelaide polish lovers with a friend from Perth who was over for the weekend. Generally, Saturdays are my 'crazy' makeup days, the brighter colours come out a lot more! And this is no exception.

This look started with the meetups mani theme- Black and White. My birthday was last Friday and I had very little time to do my nails properly, so while at work I popped some black and white gel polish on my nails. I couldn't just leave it at that, so over the white nails I topped it with Jindie Nails Candyland and on the black I added matching neon studs.

And I decided to match my eye makeup to that, by copying xSparkages Elektro Cute tutorial, but I tweaked it a bit (more green and added purple). I used the Sleek Acid palette, with NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a base to make the colours pop, Maybelline Master Precise liner and Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara. (Hadn't done brows yet!)

I liked the combo! I love wearing neon shadows, they are so much fun!
